  21. Prepare 3 1/2 glass rice (soaked for 1/2 hour)

  28. Take 1/2 cup fried onion (see tip)
  29. Get 1/2 cup freshly chopped coriander
  30. Take 2 tomatoes sliced
  31. Take juice of 2 lemons
Steps to make Basic Layered Chicken Biryani:
  1. In a wok add oil, onion and stir fry till light golden, then add the chicken. Cook on medium high flame till the colour changes.
  2. Now add the tomatoes and all the spices. Mix well. Then add the yogurt and chilies. Cook on medium flame till the chicken is tender.
  3. On the hand, in a big pot, add 3/4 of pot with water and add the condiments for rice. Let it to boil. When the boil comes, drain the washed and soaked rice and add into it.
  4. Par boil the rice and strain. Keep aside. Then in the same pot, add a layer of chicken gravy then put the fried onion, chopped coriander and sliced tomatoes then layer the rice.. Repeat again.
  5. Squeeze juice of lemon onto it, then mix food color with 2-3 tbsp of water and pour in between the rice. Cover with lid and cook on lowest flame for at-least 12 mins.
  6. Open the lid and mix the rice from sides to the middle of the pot.
  7. Now serve with raita, salad and enjoy!
